The Jharkhand government on Sunday reached an agreement with protesting JPSC-JSSC aspirants on several key demands, including cancellation of the 14th JPSC examination and backlog recruitment examinations of 2023 and 2025. The development came after the sixth round of talks between the government and student representatives.
Government proposes probes and recruitment reformsThe government proposed a CID probe into alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC and backlog recruitments, along with an ED investigation into alleged illicit financial transactions. It also proposed a fast-track court and a recruitment reforms committee comprising experts from IIT-ISM, IIM Ranchi and XLRI.
Students maintain CBI demand, plan Assembly marchDespite the government's proposals, protesters continued to demand a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities. A student leader said the planned Vidhan Sabha March on August 10 would go ahead peacefully and appealed to students across Jharkhand to join the protest.
Three JPSC members resignGovernor Santosh Kumar Gangwar accepted the resignations of three JPSC members, Ajita Bhattacharya, Anima Hansda and Jamal Ahmed, following a recommendation from the state government.
